“Hot Shots!” is on the TV right now. If you haven’t watched “Hot Shots!” recently, let me first say SHAME ON YOU. And then let me remind you of the following exchange, featuring the phenomenal Lloyd Bridges as Admiral Benson:

Admiral Benson: Oh, by the way I would like to thank you for having us over for dinner the other night. Cheryl and I thought the stroganoff was marvelous.

Lt. Commander Block: But, sir, we didn’t have dinner the other night.

Admiral Benson: Really? Then where the hell was I? And who’s this Cheryl?

I can’t be the only one reminded of the great John Ashbery poem “Worsening Situation”:

My wife
Thinks I’m in Oslo- Oslo, France, that is.

Like Admiral Benson, the narrator’s wife is twice deluded: Not only does she mistakenly think her husband is in Oslo, France, but also there is no Oslo, France.
